I'd be interested to see the results for the latter half of the regular season only. |

Considering the "King's" horrendous start to the season, that doesn't surprise me. I'd bet that's where most of his sub .900 starts came from. |

Along the same, yet unrelated, note, we might as well look at the scoring leaders from mid-December on if we're going to just discount parts of the season. |

Why reduce the sample size? The more games you take out, the more you risk you have of having flawed stats based on hot/cold streaks instead of actual ability. |

Giroux.
But seriously, 2 points on opening night is worth the same as game 82 so I don't understand that line of thinking. |

love this comment, fully agree. Otherwise Josh Bailey would have been standing in a line for arbitration holding his scoring stats from feb on each year and an empty sack for all the cash he was going to get.

Im guessing he wants to see it as it will show lundqvist dominating the category. |

SV% is an overrated stat and does not equate for the quality of the shots whatsoever. |

I know. That was my point, that you can't hand-pick which games to sample. |

Islanders s% last year was .889. If they had league average of .914% they would have had surrendered 55 less goals. They would have had a positive goal differential, playoff territory for the east/Atlantic. |

Both Nabakov and Poulin had 2 of the lowest shot attempt distance averages in the league. Better D would increase that SV% most. |

I appreciate the effort, but at the end of the day I don't think the chart says a whole lot.
All the goalies listed are between -.900 and +.910 for about 88-90% of the time. So, you're basically left evaluating the final 10%, which given the sample size, equates to about 4-6 games.
I appreciate the work and the effort, but I don't think there's a lot to discuss here. |

Well 4-6 games could be 8-12 points, which is a huge difference in the standings.
Plus it's July. Unless you want to read wild speculation about who could be traded and where, or wild speculation about lineup decisions, both of which are probably better off left in the comment sections, I don't know that there's much else to talk about. |

Because reducing the sample size would make King Hank grade out more favorably, which is far more important to Rangers fans than anything else this chart might show...haven't you been paying attention to the way things work around here? |

well sometimes we have to take up the argument that the Rangers would be absolutely nothing without Lundqvist and he is the only reason we have won 6 playoff series the last 3 years blah blah blah
and at the same time we have to argue against people who say he is the most overrated thing on earth and those people usually tend to put "KING" in quotes like that, or even sometimes write the clever word "QUEEN".
So, excuse us for trying to figure out which argument we have to take up at any given point. |

Those insults are bush league. If I were going to disparage him, I'd just call him princess because he has yet to wear a crown...and because princesses are girly...see what I did there?
All juvenile kidding aside, IMHO, I don't think Rangers fans should have to feel like they need to defend Hank any more than Pens fans should have to defend Crosby. the Results speak for themselves. He's the best goalie in the division and I don't know how that could be reasonably argued. |

Halak didn't even play for the islanders at all lol. When you play for St. Louis the majority of the year it makes life a lot easier. |
